"Make the holidays special by creating new traditions with the ones you love." ~Mama Hen
Ever since I was on my own I decided that all of my Christmas tree ornaments would be handmade by me. Every year I would make new ornaments and as my tastes changed I passed them along to my sister and started new ones. The past few Christmases have been the most special ones because I have been able to make ornaments with my daughter. They are my favorite ones hanging on the tree. It is something so special that we do each year and I am excited to make more this season. Here is a picture of my tree last year. Happy Smile Sunday!
I love this tradition! Ever since I was in my freshman dorms at college, I've been making a few ornaments every year for our tree. I'm so excited for Georgia to help me this year; having kids to share it with really does make the holidays so much more special!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great tradition! And, you do a great job decorating your trees!!
ReplyDeleteI've made some ornaments this year and they mean more to me than the ones I bought. You're teaching your little chick some great habits!
Gorgeous tree! I can't wait to do things like this with Matthew. He's still just a wee bit too young to be so creative with yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!!
What a great tradition, and I am sure that Little Chick will remember this and carry on this tradition! I love it! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThe lil chick will surely have some great memories and ornaments from growing up. How wonderful.

Beautiful tree! and what an awesome idea of a tradition! Hope you guys had a great Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tradition. The together time with Little Chick and the creativity you're encouraging are priceless. Your ornaments will "grow" as Little Chick does. Sometimes I look at the "theme" trees in the department stores and think of how elegant that would be. Alas, I am not an elegant person, and my tree is decorated with a hodge podge of ornaments I've won at annual ornament exchanges, my kids' preschool artwork, and a few ornaments I've purchased just for the fun of it. My friend has three girls and our kids exchange ornaments each year instead of Christmas gifts. When they branch out on their own, they'll each have their own "starter ornaments" for their own trees.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a nice tradition! And that Christmas tree is so gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteYou never cease to amaze me! I would love to see more of your handmade ornaments up close. What a fabulous idea and how special to be making them with Little Chick! I think I may need to use this idea and do an ornament each year with my children too! What a special keepsake and I bet each year when you pull them out they bring back so many memories!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tree! You are ambitious, I don't think I would have the patience to make all my ornaments! It is great that you are passing on the tradition with Little Chick because those ornaments really will be favorites for a life time!

That is a great tradition!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tradition! I have ornaments on my tree that were passed down from my mother. They remind me of my childhood. I've had the tradition of buying a family ornament every year, with the date & our names on it. It's fun to look at them and remember each year.
