Love

"Love contains many ingredients. Sprinkle some compassion and kindness on top of some empathy, selflessness and care, mixed in with giving without expectations, helping others and never ending hugs and kisses and love is ready to be baked. Continue to bake and watch love grow. Time has a way of making love more savory and delicious."
~Mama Hen
There are many facets to love. It is not something we can expect, nor can we ignore. It comes from many places and is made up of so many parts. When we are young we love with no effort at all. We think the world is a loving and caring place to be. As we get older and go through some experiences that make us wonder about people and how they can at times be uncaring and hurtful, we learn to guard our hearts and our feelings. Some do this more than others. I have learned that love is something that needs to be nurtured every day. It is something to be appreciated and held on to dearly. We can not take it for granted and we must always do our best to outwardly show the people we love that we feel the way that we do. I feel incredibly blessed for the amazing people in my life that I love dearly. I know that this is a gift to be cherished. What have you learned about love through the years?

  1. I've learned that when it is true, it is unconditional and that it does not end with death...it is eternal.

  4. so true -- while reading your post i immediately thought of my class, it's a very needy group overall, many of my students are lacking consistent, 'always there love' from their families -- and it shows in their behaviors, their choices and in the walls they've built up. very sad, especially when these kids are only five years old. again, your words will stay with me today as i am challenged to stay calm and positive for my students. have a great day! : )

  5. I've learned that I can love; that's its okay to love others. Having a tough childhood I remember not being sure whether love was real - thankfully today I know it's alive and well :-)

  6. So true, MH. I learned that people interpret love in different ways. For some, it's an act of kindness or service, for others it's material things, for some it's physical, and yet other's it's an emotional/communication thing. Regardless of how it is interpretted, it is the greatest gift :)

  7. You're right, love has many facets. I've learned to allow myself to be loved- then I can love more freely. Today I just remembered this lesson with my daughter. I told her I love her very much and when she made a mess, we'll clean it up together. It was so nice.
