I Have Learned

"Our lives are filled with lessons to be lived and learned from. What we do with our lessons will either keep us stagnant or help us to grow." ~Mama Hen
When I started blogging I did a post using the poem "I have learned". It is a piece of writing that always gets me thinking and reflecting. Today I am writing my own I have learned list to look upon and think about as my journey continues. In my short thirty nine years I have experienced an abundance of love, laughter, pain, loss, and challenges. Here are some of the lessons I have learned along the way:

I have learned that our friends may not stay for a lifetime, but they do serve a purpose for the time spent together. It is up to us to learn from that connection and grow.

I have learned that the expectations we may have had for our lives in our youth may change, however the outcome has a reason far greater than what we can comprehend at times.

I have learned that if you want to get something done, often you must do it yourself.

I have learned that the stresses in adulthood may be overwhelming at times, but time spent with our children can immediately relieve the stress and leave us smiling.

I have learned that there is nothing at all more important then loving our children and spending as much time playing, laughing and cuddling with them.

  1. I appreciated your post today. The last six months have been truly some challenging times more than the usual. I agree 100% with you. Sometimes if we don't learn the lesson, we will be presented the trial or test until we do. In order to grow. It's my goal to see what I am supposed to learn from my life so that I continue to grow into the woman , mother, friend and wife, that I am intended to be. Thanks for you thoughts.

  7. My friend, you really have such a wonderful way of saying things. Everything you wrote is so very true, and yet, something that can easily be overlooked. I think the one that most jumped out at me today was #2. Sometimes it can be hard to see the plan God lays out for us. It's our job to let it unfold, even if that means that we're left feeling lost about our previous passions.

  17. What a great post, Mama Hen. You've learned some pretty profound lessons that others never learn. Lessons aren't always easy, but I think bring greater peace at the end. Have a wonderful day. Greetings to Little Chick and her new kitty too! :-)

  21. Life is full of learning opportunities. Sometimes it takes me awhile to actually learn the lesson. Often times I'm just trying to make it through the day. It's not until the evening when I'm alone and it's quiet, that I have the chance to reflect. That's if I don't fall asleep from exhaustion first.

  25. So true! However, those friendships of the heart - while they may travel out of our sphere of activity for a while, they return - and it is as though time as not passed! Friendships are like a tapestry thread that weave in and out. That is the beauty of God's friendship gift!

  26. That fourth one really rings true for me! I can have the worst day at work, be totally frazzled, and then take my kids to the park and suddenly the stress melts away as I chase them up and down slides and lose myself in their childhood for an hour. It's the best stress relief ever...well, at least when they aren't causing me stress! :)
