No Time to Pause

"Time flies! Make the most of your moments.
There are no pause buttons in life." ~Mama Hen

I have written about "seizing the moment" in many of my posts in the past. It is something that intrigues me and also frightens me a bit. Today was a day that I really noticed the flash of time that bolted by this past week. Every Friday Little Chick and I like to "scoop" my mom up and go to her little European store a couple towns over for some German magazines and treats. Today I had a second where I really had to stop and think about what happened between our visit to the store last week and today. It really bothered me how fast it went by and I am not even sure what I accomplished in this chunk of time. These flashes always reminds me how fast our ride here on Earth is and how we need to utilize our time as fully and wisely as we can.
How do you make sure you are using your time in the most fulfilling way?

  3. What a great question. I don't know the answer other than trying to live a full life. I have a hard time sitting back and taking it all in. Thanks for your comment tonight. BTW: I did my first formal pilates on TH and LOVED it! If you lived here we could go together :-)

  5. OMG. I have no idea how to answer that. My days seem mundane, but I do love doing fun things with my son and his other little friends whom I watch in my home 5 days a week...just to well make some fun memories, but at times, I feel like its soo mundane. This is play time, this changing time, this is nap time...you get the point..I do need to figure out how to spice it up a bit I think.

  6. Oh wow. I think mostly I try to soak up a bit of the environment. I love photography, so I try to find something amazing in every little thing around me. Even in a store, I've had fellow patrons look at me crazy for taking photos....of everything. So yes, have your camera on hand maybe. even if you don't take any photos. I remember silly things like walks to the store with my daughter and son, because I was taking photos. I still have mommy brain, though!!

  7. I know what you mean; sometimes the days seem to escape me, and we're back to Saturday without anything to show for it. Like Sommer, I usually carry my camera around with me. And I also try to do something fun with Georgia during the day, like baking or coloring. And when she asks me to play a specific game, I always stop what I'm doing and we play - because soon she might not want me to play with her. Enjoy the weekend!

  8. It's such a hard balance - looking forward to the future while trying to hang on to the present. I have to stop myself sometimes and force myself to savor the moment.

  9. I really needed this today! Ever since my fourth baby was born time is flying and I feel like I am just treading. Thanks for the reminder that sometime we need to make a conscience effort to enjoy the moment. :)

  10. I love the line "life has no pause button" good one Mama Hen!

It is sad when you really stop to think about how fast time flies, and all you can do is cherish it as much as you can!

  11. What a thought-provoking question! I think it helps to try to remember why we're here on the planet in the first place, to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. It helps put everything else into perspective.

We did not get to have our bonfire last night, but they combined the corn today, so maybe soon. We did have a great Guy Fawkes Night with friends, however. Thanks for asking.

  12. I agree time flies! Especially now that I started working the days just flash by. I wish I could just press the pause button for a little.

  13. Oh Mama Hen, I wish I knew the answer. This week/weekend flew by for me too, and I'm not quite sure what I accomplished other than working, taking care of my family, and keeping the house clean and tidy. I didn't get a chance to pause... Sometimes I think that without blogging, I wouldn't have a chance to reflect or capture any of Lil' Lewie's milestones--they would be missed. I'm still searching for a way to "stop and smell the roses."

  14. I have a marker board and a calendar to keep on track. I still have 4 kids at home and I clean a few days a week. I have to keep on top of things or they will not get done.

That is wonderful that you spend time with your mom every week.

  15. I try so hard to savor the moment, but sometimes it is hard not to get caught up in the hussle and bussle...especially this time of year. I think it's all about setting your priorities and then focusing your time around them. If those two things are in lined, then I think it makes for a happy and fulfilling life!

  16. It's so true! I didn't really like the Ben Sandler movie that was based on this idea but I certainly do remind myself and my husband of this often. Sometimes it's hard to enjoy each moment but they will so soon be in the past. And as we keep reminding ourselves, when our girls are teenagers, we're going to wish our only worries were that they kept dropping their food and plates on the floor!
