Reflections and Thanksgiving Thursday

"Our reflection can be seen in the eyes and soul of our children."
~Mama Hen
It is amazing how much of myself I see in my daughter daily. I see that she has my huge heart, compassion for others and animals, and a lot of empathy. I also see the feisty side, courage, strength and determination, which can sometimes lead to a battle of the wills. That's OK, because I want her to be a strong woman one day and watching her stand her ground is something I think will be important in the world we live in. We can learn about ourselves and how we handle things simply by watching our children. They reflect how we respond to good and not so good things in our lives. We can take note and make sure to cool it a bit when we are in traffic, dealing with car trouble and simply having a bad day. I see myself in my daughter's eyes. I want to make sure the reflection is always positive and happy.

For this Thanksgiving Thursday I am thankful for:

1.) Little Chick and my family

2.) Enjoying the holidays through Little Chick's excitement.

3.) God's never ending love, strength and patience.

4.) For the fresh air and my lungs that can take deep breaths. Each breath reminds me that my life is a gift to be lived well and with daily gratitude.

5.) Classical music. It brings me such peace and Little Chick loves to tell me how beautiful each song is.

  4. Love those pictures and your words are beautiful. About once a month I feel as though my daughter sees right into my soul - it's one of those moments that I'm always speechless (and I've drafted several posts about it but fail to capture the words). Anyway hope YOU are doing well!

  9. My little one is all me. All naughtiness! Just like me when I was her age. Payback time, I guess! We do learn so much from our children. Such a sweet picture!

  10. Your little one is growing up fast. I have a daughter that always knows when I am sad or sick. She reads my eyes all the time. She is only 11.

  14. Isn't it amazing to look at Little Chick and not only see yourself but see this amazing, independent little girl! I love your quote: "Our reflection can be seen in the eyes and soul of our children." I think it's one of the most rewarding parts of being a mom.

    Happy Thanksgiving Thursday!

  15. It is so funny how at such an early age their personality shows through and I can see bits of me and my husband. It's so important to remember to keep our reactions in check because they are mimicking everything we do.

  16. The mirror shot is too cute - Georgia is just starting to do things like that. I love your thankful list this week. Classical music is so beautiful - I love that it can incite such emotion without using words. Have a wonderful day!

  17. Hey stranger! Just popping over to say hi! Love your Thanksgiving Thursday as always. You first part reminded me of what I'm working on...just cooling it a bit when I get stressed out, and making sure my tone is calm and not harsh to my kids. It's usually not even their fault anyway, I wouldn't want my tone repeated back thru them. Have a wonderful rest of the week! ♥

  18. So very true, I often wonder if parents think of their actions and how they affect a child. We are such big role models for them, and they do learn by example. Lovely post as always!
    Have a great day!
    Blessings

  20. What a fantastic quote and idea to remember - that our children are a reflection of ourselves. I think this is going to make posting on my frig as a reminder, DAILY, of being the best I can be, for them. Thank you!
