Proud Mama Hen

"Hold on to the moments we are given each day.
They fly by way too quickly!"
~Mama Hen
Here is Little Chick just a few years ago in September. I feel like it was just a short while ago. As I wrote in my post yesterday, I am learning to "let go". I think it is one of the hardest lessons for a parent to go through. When I picked her up from school today I asked her what she had done. Like all the other days I get bits and pieces of what she is doing and learning about and it bothers me. Four years of holding my Little Chick close to me and making sure everything was alright just does not seem like enough time. I want my little fledgling to go out into the world, but not quite yet. Little Chick did great on her first week of school and she was excited that I surprised her with Rice Crispies treats when she came home. I gave her the biggest hug as we put her backpack away and I told her how proud I was of her! What am I going to do when she goes to college? Yikes!

  4. It was weird with maddie starting a program this year. Even though Kate went somewhere last year. It's hard when it's their first year, no matter what # kid it is.

  6. oh this post is TOO dear to my heart. I feel like it breaks just a little every day as I see them grow up, and somehow away from me. I know it is all as it should be, yet it is hard!

  10. That's so true. Watching our little munchkins grow up and releasing them into the world is frightening. But time really does go by so fast and it is a beautiful thing to see them grow, it really is :-D

  11. Fortunately, you will be enjoying each moment before she goes off to college, rather than those who must live with regret that they didn't spend time with their children as they ought to have done. Little Chick is blessed to have a mommy who pays attention and cares.

  13. She is adorable. All but one of mine is grown now. My oldest is in the Navy currently deployed in the Middle East. Learning to let go is very hard, no matter how old they are. Enjoy every moment, each is precious!

Btw, Ben is turning 18mth today which also marks my 18th month of breastfeeding! Yeayyyyy!!

  17. I am having trouble keeping up with blogs I read that post so often, so my apologies for not always commenting, although I do always see the posts in my google reader. :)
Enjoy every minute with your daughter as you are right time flys by and before you realise it you will be 'empty nesters'

  19. Glad she had a good first week of school and I'm not sure why they have to grow up TOO quickly? I used to tease my mom for saying to me, "stop growing up...I'm gonna plant you back into the ground", Ha, now I see why she struggled with that :)

LOVE that pic of the two of you!!

  28. It is such a gift that Little Chick is enjoying school! That should give you peace of mind that even though she isn't under your wing for those hours, she is safe, happy and having FUN! It must be so hard to "let go." I can't imagine!

  30. Awwww... They grow up so fast, don't they? My little one is only 3.5 months old and sometimes I am scared to blink for fear of missing something... She is growing bigger and wiser before my eyes! I can only imagine how you are feeling! I cannot relate yet, but I will before I know it! Cheers!

  31. Oh, I love this shot of the two of you. So pretty.

I still only get little bits and scraps of info on Dahlia's day and always need more. Good job getting through week #1. That's the tough one.

    Hugs,
    W
