Time for Renewal

"Summer is close to an end. Cider, pumpkins, hayrides and the crisp air is in sight. Look forward to family gatherings and sharing stories by the fire.
Welcome the Autumn with open arms."
~Mama Hen

The change of seasons is a time for renewal. I get a boost in spirit and excited about the holidays that each season brings. With Autumn I can't wait to go apple picking with Little Chick and bake pies. We spend a lot of time outside in the fresh air raking colorful leaves, placing cute scarecrows in the yard and placing lots of pumpkins everywhere! I get a feeling of "togetherness" as the cool air sets in and we tend to move indoors as it gets darker earlier. I welcome the change and all it has to bring.

What do you love about Autumn?

  6. Fall is my most favorite time of year. There seems to be so much excitement in the air. I don't know if it left over from school days, the start of a new year, new possiblities, or if I am just remembering the cool relief after a Wisonsin summer. I love the colors, I love the the cider, and pumpkin beer! I love halloween, the whole season feels like a celebration to me!

  9. the way you describe your favorite activities makes me wanna love autumn more! =) autumn gives me a sense of calmness and makes me more thankful that summer is over (particularly summer here in KSA)..i don't know, but maybe growing up in a tropical country like the Philippines where heat is all-year round makes me appreciate the coming of the winter season more, hehe...

  11. What's not to love about autumn? It's my favorite time of year in New England. I love the colors on the trees, apple picking and pumpkin patching with hot apple cider afterward. I love hayrides and hot stews, Football season, and pulling out all my sweaters from under the bed. It's also the calm before the cold of winter sets in, so I'll be outside until the first snow.

  12. That's a sweet pic of Little Chick!

And what do I like about autumn? Just about everything, but I think especially reading beside the fire in the evenings and having bonfires (outdoors, of course)with friends. Good grief. I sound like a real pyromaniac, don't I! :-)

  15. First, what a cute picture of LC. I love that you dig through your archives to find them.

The cooler weather. (To be honest though, fall makes me a bit sad when I see my garden dying, no - going to sleep and I know the sun will hide from us soon. But then it'll be spring and everything starts growing again. Sorry to be a wet blanket.)

  20. In Texas we tease that we only have 2 seasons: hot and cold. The reality is we, too, have a beautiful fall. I don't remember it being that way when I was younger. Could be that horticulturists have incorporated different varieties of trees like the ornamental pear trees in our area or maybe I just pay more attention now that I'm older. Probably a combination of both. Anyway, all of that is to say I LOVE the fall colors, celebrating my birthday, and the smell-good, taste-good, feel-good going down fall foods: soups, stews, casseroles that not only feed the body but the soul as well.
