National Velvet and Thanksgiving Thursday

"Find the happy side of stormy weather." ~Mama HenToday we had an ice storm here in New England and Little Chick and I were stuck inside. I was excited to bring out one of my favorite movies to share with my daughter: National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney. I remember before I was even a mommy that I thought about the day I could sit and watch my favorite classics and create memories with my children. So when we were not able to drive because the roads were covered in ice, I thought that it would be a great day to sit with my baby all bundled up and watch this fantastic movie together. She loved it and yet another mommy daughter tradition was in the making.
Thanksgiving Thursday
1.) I am so thankful for Little Chick and my family.
2.) For making the best of days stuck inside and creating great memories with my beautiful daughter.
3.) For the strength to be able to shovel almost every other day and to be able to even climb up a ladder and shovel my roof. Not so easy, but I did it!
4.) For Zumba classes and being able to have a great gym membership.
5.) For super blog awards! Thank you Candace from Mi Chiamo Candace! I really appreciate it!
I pass these awards to my sweet weekly followers who always take the time to comment:
Little Chick has a cold and just woke up. I will add more friends and links tomorrow.

  1. Ice is definitely no fun but I'm so glad you found something fun to do! I can not believe you climb up on your roof to shovel the snow... I guess you gotta do what you gotta do but to me you're super woman! I would be a nervous wreck!

    Thanks for the award!

Hopefully Little Chick feels better soon! We also were cozy on the couch yesterday, though we watched Sesame Street (Georgia's pick). It's nice to find the blessings in the storms, you know? I love that you took advantage of the inside time to make memories with your sweet little girl!

I love how snow days make us slow down, stop, and enjoy the simple and beautiful moments of everyday.

  8. Be careful shoveling the roof! Sounds like a lovely ice day you had. I'm not sure I remember much about that movie, but it is neat to share the ones we loved as kids with our own children.

Wow....up on the roof and shovelling everyday. Quelle femme! I can't believe how much snow you've gotten. We have had some but not as much as you.

I love your icicle pictures. So original and I could just see you traipsing in the snow and then turning around to capture that snap of your mom and LC. So cute.

Have a great evening and stay warm.

  19. Life is indeed marvelous and I'm glad there are more people in the world who find the happy side of all things. I also love that kind of scene, staying at home with my mother during rainy season when classes were cancelled and we're also stuck at home.

Those are one of the greatest memories children would have with their moms.
