June Summer Fun

Little Chick has been busy this summer. She has been reading a lot and is ahead of the reading challenge at the library. I am such a proud mama! Last week she reached 1200 minutes on Tuesday and then read up to 1500 by Thursday morning. She was excited when she saw that one of her prizes was a voucher for a kids Subway meal. We went to Subway right away to redeem her cool prizes. Little Chick earned some money washing my car. She did a fantastic job! She spent the day at the beach with her buddies last week and had a lot of fun at Brownies this morning. Our troop is working on the Wonderful World of Water and the girls made cute boats and had boat races together. They also worked on the water cycle and learned a nifty song to help them remember all about it. They had a jar of water and checked how much water evaporated each hour and they made rainbows using dye. It has been a busy and fun beginning of summer!

A Purposeful Life

Little Chick and I love to live each moment to the fullest and take lots of adventures. God has blessed us all with such abundant gifts of nature. We love soaking it all in. Today we took a day trip to East Haddam and tried a new hiking trail at Devil's Hopyard. It was so much fun! Our friends joined us with their new puppy, Skipper. Gigi and Skipper became good friends while hiking the trail along with us. We saw a beautiful waterfall and ate our picnic lunch on a rock that overlooked the cascading water. After our morning of hiking we headed to Gillette Castle to walk around and to go inside William Gillette's castle. It was a lot of fun! On our drive home Gigi and Little Chick were really pooped out. It was a fantastic day! 

Good Friends, Good Times

Today Little Chick and I had so much fun! I started a Summer Brownies with my Brownie troop and we had such a spectacular day. We then went to our friends boat/house to spend some time with them and ended up heading out on the water for some fun and exploration. Little Chick and her friend had a super time picking up large rocks and seeing all the little crabs scamper around underneath. Little Chick and I absolutely love the water, so spending time with good friends on the water made for a perfect day!

A Lovely Weekend

Little Chick and I had a lovely weekend! The weather was gorgeous and we made sure we enjoyed the outdoors. Yesterday we had fun seeing the new IMAX movie at the aquarium about the Lemurs in Madagascar. I worked on the yard a few hours and simply enjoyed the beautiful weather. Today we went to a fun birthday party at an indoor splash zone and then topped it off with a lovely evening at the beach with Grandma Hen.
