It was a special weekend when my daughter showed a huge interest to go kayaking for the first time. It is something I have always loved to do and to have my daughter in my arms paddling with me was like a dream. It was really low tide and the water was up to Little Chick's waist, so I thought it would be perfect to take her out. Having my cousin with us on the beach taking pictures was wonderful. She captured a cherished moment I will never forget. I have not been kayaking since before Little Chick was born, and while Little Chick was playing with my cousin I thought it would be perfect to head on out for a bit. Little Chick was so excited to see me and yelled out "I want to go too!" It was music to my ears. My daughter is a little version of me and it is so fun to see. I love my baby and passing on a part of me is my greatest gift.

Moments Like These

~Mama Hen My cousin arrived yesterday for a couple of days from Spain. Little Chick was so excited! We had fun driving up north today. We had a delicious breakfast and then spent the day on the beach. In the evening we enjoyed a wonderful family dinner out. It has been a magnificent time and Little Chick and I have been so happy!

A Priceless Gift

Today was an absolutely beautiful day! I still have a cold, but that did not stop Little Chick and I from having a wonderful adventure outdoors and basking in the sun. After my daughter's swim class we headed up north to spend some time on the beach. We pulled out my old kayak and Little Chick had fun simply paddling while on shore. All it takes is some water, sand and plenty of giggles to make our day! We had lunch in town and discovered a yummy candy shop with delicious lollipops. Little Chick loved picking one out. It was a really magnificent day with my baby girl!

A Beautiful Mother's Day

We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I woke up with a terrible cold, but my dear friend took the day off from work to spend with Little Chick and I while Papa Rooster was away on business. So we spent a lovely day together! We went to our favorite diner for breakfast. I realized that Little Chick was wearing the same sweatshirt as she did last year on Mother's Day. So silly! We then played a bit at home and then headed to the beach for some delicious Popsicles. It was a beautiful Mother's Day!

Thanksgiving Thursday and Singing in the Rain

Little Chick just loves her new penguin umbrella! She could not wait to put on her puddle jumpers, grab her umbrella and go for a walk in the rain. She had a grin from ear to ear! The more rain the better! I love watching my daughter take a muddy wet day and turn it into the most amazing adventure. She marched along our yard singing her heart out. Take a look at the video. She had already been singing for quite a while. I learn something every day from my beautiful Little Chick who has such a zest for life! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Thursday!

Business trips that bring my cousin back here from Spain in a week. Little Chick is so excited! 5.) The never ending strength, love and encouragement I receive from the amazing women in my life!

Insignificant Significance

It is funny how the things that may seem so insignificant to one person may become something so significant to another. I remember when I was a little girl that a neighborhood mom used to make carrot cake with cream cheese frosting from scratch. I, being a huge chocolate fan from early on, was enamored with this carrot cake. It became my favorite cake to this day. If there is a choice on a menu and the frosting is "cream cheese" I will always choose the carrot cake. I remember talking with the mom that introduced me to this heavenly cake just a couple of years ago. I told her how much I loved the cake when she made it for everyone when we were little. I also told her how much I loved visiting her house and being surrounded by the warmth, love and laughter. She said she did not remember that cake, but she was happy that I loved it and visiting so much. I said that every time I eat carrot cake I think of her. Well, today I made a batch of carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I thought of this dear woman while doing so. I make them for special occasions like my mom's birthday party in the picture. This beautiful neighborhood mom passed away last year and after the funeral, while crying, I managed to get a chuckle out of my friend and this mom's son by telling him about how much I loved his mom's carrot cake. How insignificant that carrot cake might have been to my neighborhood mom, but how significant it was to me. May our dear friend be at peace up in heaven.
