Happy New Year!

"Life is a lot like sledding. There is plenty of climbing up hill, but once you reach the top the view is absolutely amazing and the ride exciting and exhilarating." ~Mama Hen
Each New Year brings the potential for positive changes and refreshing life goals. I want to take each day and fill every moment with love, fun and learning new things with my baby. Little Chick and I have been sledding ever since that gorgeous snow fall yesterday.  There is no time like the present for soaking up some fun! We want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!

My Perfect Birthday

"Birthdays come just once a year. Why not fill the day with an abundance of love and a whole lot of fun!" ~Mama Hen
It is my 42 birthday and I could not have asked for a more perfect birthday! My friend Geri came over for coffee and to watch a movie with Little Chick and I. We watched the snow coming down through our big picture window in the family room. After Geri left we got our snow duds on and headed out for some sledding fun! Little Chick and I love to sled! It was coming down hard as we zoomed down the big hill out in the backyard. This was a wonderful birthday filled with love, family, friends and a whole bunch of fun!

Merry Christmas

"Enjoy each second. They won't return and as each day passes we look back and wish we could revisit them." ~Mama Hen
Last night Little Chick and I saw snow coming down and we knew we had to put on our snow gear and head on out to a great big sledding hill in our back yard. We had so much fun sledding in the brisk air, with the snow still coming down and Christmas lights all around us. It has been a wonderful holiday week with the exception of Little Chick having a huge cold. But we don't let the sniffles take away the fun. On Saturday we celebrated with my friend Geri and on Sunday we had a wonderful family birthday celebration for my mom. We made delicious cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve. Christmas was absolutely marvelous! Enjoy your holiday week!

Little Chick's Holiday Piano Recital

"Getting ready for the holidays is an exciting time. The anticipation of all the warm happy events make every moment a cherished memory." ~Mama Hen

Little Chick has been having so much fun getting ready for the holidays! She had a wonderful holiday recital a couple of weeks ago. It was her second recital and she did fantastic! After the show we celebrated ata resuarant. It was perfect because she sat next to a beautiful horse picture. We then headed to an ice cream shop for sorbet and a walk through a local festive house that has the most Christmas lights I have ever seen. We went to see the Nutcracker and also a show at Yale in New Haven of the student Classical Orchestra. Little Chick loves the holidays!

Look Up for Peace

"Today and every day thank God for the abundant blessings He has placed in our lives. Remember the ones who have passed, cherish the ones who are present and tell them how much you love them and look up and see the love that shines down from Heaven above." ~Mama Hen
I have been walking around in a fog lately trying to get a grip after the horrific tragedy that occurred in a town not too far from us. I try to grasp some kind of understanding and can not even begin to comprehend. I have looked up to God for peace. I hold on to my daughter and say I love you all day long. Look up and pray. Look for the love that sits in Heaven shining down upon us all. Give thanks each second for the many blessings we have been showered with and pray and pray for the poor families who are suffering so. Be kind to your neighbor, give to those who are in need and simply pour the love outward that God so abundantly blessed us all with.

The Spirit of Christmas & Thanksgiving Thursday

"The greatest of all gifts is to give completely of yourself." ~Mama Hen
"Mommy, I am ready to donate my hair. I love my hair so much, but the children need it more than I do and I know mine will grow back." This is what Little Chick said to me this morning. We have been talking for weeks about the true spirit of Christmas and to give of ourselves. She has not cut her hair yet since it grew in other then a trim. She has not even been in a salon, because my friend Geri always trims a half inch or so. Little Chick really was not sure about the idea when I first brought it up to her. She loves her long beautiful hair. I told her that it was completely up to her, but that it would be the greatest gift she could give to another child. After weeks of thinking about it she decided that she would like to donate her hair to Locks of Love. She had a great time at the salon! When she was done she said, "Mommy my hair will grow back quickly and next Christmas I would like to donate it again to the children who need it." I am so proud of my beautiful Little Chick! She has such a giving heart.
Thanksgiving Thursday: 1.) Little Chick and my family 2.) Little Chick's giving heart and the lessons she teaches me every day with her complete kindness 3.) The true Christmas spirit 4.) All of our adorable animals 5.) Giving and making others smile.
