Cherished Moments Monday

"Time with loved ones is a precious thing."
~Mama Hen
Little Chick was so happy to tell Cookie and Lolli all about her day at school. Lolli was so excited that she was home and gave her lots of kisses. We had fun yesterday at Mystic Aquarium. It was a beautiful day and we were really happy to see the Belugas getting their lunch. We made sure to say hi to our penguin and sea lion friends. We also love seeing Charlotte the sea turtle who was injured by a boat. She is a determined little turtle who swims as if she never got hurt. On the way home I saw a heart in the clouds. It always makes me feel so good when I see hearts all around me. It is a beautiful reminder of how much love there is all around us.
See the heart?

Let Us Remember

"Give thanks every day for your abundant blessings. Each new day is a gift and each blessing a treasure." ~Mama Hen

On this day we remember those who have passed on, those who immediately went to help and the ones who were left behind. Today is a day that we should also remember that although there are moments where things seem bleak in our own lives, there are so many blessings to be grateful for. Today is a day we can put things into perspective. It is a time we can reevaluate our lives and see that the abundance of blessings are worth smiling about as often as possible. Life is short and if we don't take time to "smell the roses" now, then when will we? Let us remember all of those who have suffered from the tragedy of 9/11.

Little Kindergarten Chick

"Let the sun shine brightly on all that you do."
~Mama Hen

Little Chick started Kindergarten and looked so adorable in her uniform and backpack! Little Chick says she is wearing her "unicorn". So cute! She was so happy to put her horse lunchbox into her backpack that of course has a horse on it as well. She walked right into her classroom, said hi to her teacher, gave me a kiss and said "You can go now mommy." My Little Chick is a school girl now. Happy September everyone!

I am so proud of my Little Chick!

Dr. Little Chick & Thanksgiving Thursday

"Give thanks for the gift of compassion and kindness." ~Mama Hen
Little Chick has such a huge compassionate and kind heart. She adores animals and wants to know that they are all doing well. The other day I walked into the family room and saw Little Chick taking care of all of her animal buddies. She made sure to give every patient a hug so they would feel better right away. She also was really good about letting the patients that were waiting know that she would be with them as soon as she could. Today when we were at a store Little Chick pointed to a snoopy dog bed and asked if she could get it for Lolli. She said "Mommy Lolli will love this cozy bed!" I loved that she was being so thoughtful of her little dog. She was so excited to give the present she picked out to Lolli and see how cozy she was all curled up.
"I will be with you as soon as I can Belle."
"It's OK Cookie. I am right here."
Taking the little dogs temperature.
Lolli's new bed.
Thanksgiving Thursday: 1.) Little Chick and my family. 2.) For compassion and kindness. 3.) Cool rainy days and wearing my favorite sweatshirt from my dear friend Marcy. 4.) Watching Little Chick be so thoughtful to others. 5.) For having had grandparents who loved me so much!

Letting Go of the Clutter

"Letting go of all that clutters your heart is not only cleansing, but essential to making room for all the exciting things yet to come." ~Mama Hen

Recently I had a minute where something that had weighed down my heart had lifted and dissipated out into the universe. It was a moment of "letting go". I am not sure what exactly triggered my ability to do this, but the result was incredibly cleansing. There are a few things sitting in my heart that have been weighing me down for years. Finding the strength to forgive others is essential. Although this is just one experience with letting go, the feeling it has left me with is an open heart. It has also helped me to realize just how much something from the past can take away from the present. It is all about learning to forgive others and accept that the past is something that is simply that: "the past". It is something we cannot change and something we all must learn from. I hope that in time I will have more cleansing moments and will be able to say that I am completely free from the people and scenarios that have weighed down my heart so heavily. For now I will be thankful for this glimpse of what "letting go" is truly about.

Happiness & Smile Sunday

"Surround yourself with what makes you happy. Life is way too short to pass up an opportunity to be filled with silliness and laughter." ~Mama Hen
Little Chick loves to take Lolli and I for a ride in her Jeep! I am always surprised when the little car actually goes with me on board. Grandma Hen could not resist capturing a picture of how we spend our days. Little Chick beams happiness and it makes everyone around smile. I love you more than anything baby girl! Have a happy Smile Sunday!

Thanksgiving Thursday and Power

"Make the best of uncomfortable circumstances. You may look back one day and think of them as some of your fondest memories." ~Mama Hen

Our power just went back on! I can't say just how excited we are. We have been visiting my mom every day just for a shower and cup of coffee. This picture above was taken a couple of days ago. My dear friend Geri came over for a hot shower and to spend the night because she had no power either. Just as we took this picture my mom's power went out. We made the best of it and had a little party! Although it has been rather uncomfortable, the circumstances brought our family and friends together. That is really what life is all about! Happy Thanksgiving Thursday!Thank you Grandma Hen!

Thanksgiving Thursday: 1.) Little Chick and my family. 2.) Thank You God that my friends and family were fine in the hurricane. 3.) For electricity and the comforting feeling it brings. 4.) For family and friends during times of need. 5.) For my best friend Marcy who stayed on the phone with me for a couple of hours last night to help the time in the dark pass by!
