Little Chick in the Big Apple

Little Chick and I have spent the past two days in NYC having a beautiful time! On Sunday we were so excited to attend an incredible concert at Carnegie Hall. It was beyond magnificent and Little Chick and I left feeling inspired. We did not have time yesterday to explore the city like we like to do, so we decided spur of the moment to catch a train and head back today for a lovely ladies brunch and some city fun. Little Chick said, "The first thing we have to do after we eat is light a candle for Grandaddy and for Whiskers at St. Patrick's Cathedral." This is our tradition each time we head to the Big Apple. I thought it was beautiful that she wanted to do this before anything else. That included holding off on the American Girl Store until candles were lit. It was an absolutely gorgeous day with my beautiful Little Chick.

Thanksgiving Thursday - Simple Gifts

Summer has arrived and Little Chick and I have been enjoying every moment with family, friends and all the fantastic gifts God has bestowed upon us. The beach has been our number one destination and now the pools have been added to our list of great fun. Little Chick has been sketching birds in her sketch book and each day we have been sitting outside watching our bird feeder as a variety of birds come to enjoy a meal or two throughout the day. It is the simple things that bring the most pleasure and lasting memory. 

Thanksgiving Thursday: 1.) Little Chick and my family. 2.) Cherished moments with family and friends at the beach. 3.) Town pools that bring such refreshment and fun in the summer. 4.) A great book. 5.) Time spent with my mom.

Happy Father's Day

It is another Father's Day and my Dad is not here to celebrate it with Little Chick and I. We visited him today at his grave and told him how much we love and miss him. I truly wish that he could have been here to enjoy my daughter and teach her, as he taught me. Little Chick looks like my Dad and I just know that is a blessing that was sent from Heaven above to remind me that he lives on in our family. There is not a day that he is not thought of. It has been almost twenty years and I feel like he just passed. May he know just how much we love and miss him. Happy Father's Day Daddy!

Thanksgiving Thursday - Incredibly Blessed

There is no greater gift than a child. I dreamed of being a mom since I was a young girl. The journey to become one was painful and long. Each moment I am with my daughter I feel so incredibly blessed. She is so full of life, love, passion, empathy and compassion for all. This Thanksgiving Thursday I want to shout out to the world just how blessed I am to be a mother.

Thanksgiving Thursday: 1.) Little Chick and my family. 2.) My friends who fill my life with such joy. 3.) Air conditioning in 95 degree weather. 4.) The beach, which fills my soul. 5.) Ice cream to cool off on a steamy hot day.

Beach Days

"When it's 93 degrees out, pack the car and head to the beach!" ~Mama Hen

It has been 93-95 degrees the past few days and Little Chick and I have been heading to the beach as much as we can with our good friends for some splish splashing fun! As it begins getting cooler at night we see Grandma Hen for dinner and of course we make stops for ice cream to top off our fun days. Little Chick keeps her passion for horses fueled with riding each week. Over the weekend our family got together to enjoy family time. Yesterday Little Chick's Girl Scout troop celebrated their end of the year party with some pottery painting fun. After that Little Chick's friend came over to run in the sprinkler and sliding on the Slip & Slide. Summer may not have arrived yet, but Little Chick and I are certainly enjoying our beach days with enthusiasm!

Thanksgiving Thursday & Enjoying the Arts

We are so thankful this Thanksgiving Thursday and every day! Little Chick and I have been having so much fun filling our days with family, friends and fun activities. Yesterday we spent the afternoon at the beach with our friends and then headed to church in the evening to see an amazing strings ensemble, Palaver Strings. We had seen them last year and were absolutely blown away. I could not wait to spread the word to let people know about this fabulous group. If they come to your area for a concert I highly recommend you see them perform. Little Chick loved having Grandma Hen at the show, as well as all of her friends. She was excited to be an usher, greet all the people and pass out programs.  I am so thankful for all the abundant blessings God has graciously bestowed upon us.

Ice Skating & Back to the Beach

Little Chick and I have been soaking up all the fun each day has to offer! Yesterday we had a fantastic time ice skating with Little Chick's Girl Scout troop. This is the activity they chose to pay for with their cookie money they earned during Girl Scout cookie time. We topped off our fun skating time with a delicious juice and many giggles. On Sunday Little Chick sang beautifully at church with her choir and then we met friends at the beach for yet another fun filled beach day! Our days have been loaded with fun, great friends and many laughs. That is what it is all about! So many blessings!
