"Keep a grateful journal. Every night, list five things that you are grateful for. What it will begin to do is change your perspective of your day and your life."
~Oprah Winfrey

Once again it is Thanksgiving Thursday! This is my day to truly take the time to reflect. I really love this quote from Oprah Winfrey, because it is something so simple, yet can have such a profound impact on how we think. It is a way that we can reflect each day and truly give thanks for all of our blessings.
Here are my five things that I am grateful for today:
1.) Little Chick and my family!
2.) Security (safe home, food, clothes, essentials)
3.) My ability to see this amazing Earth and to hear the incredible sounds in nature, as well as, music and most of all Little Chick's adorable little voice!!
4.) My gift of a healthy agile body. I can dance, run, climb and play with Little Chick!!
5.) My ability to see that there is so much to be grateful for.
Yesterday I was very sad thinking about my desire to have another child. I spent the day running around with my daughter outside and it put things back into perspective. Reflecting and writing our blessings may not take away all of the pain and longing I may have to create a sibling for Little Chick, but it does put the perspective in place - I am truly blessed!
Make sure to enter the raffle!! Details on left.

ReplyDeleteLovely post once again!
ReplyDeleteLittle chick is such a blessing and you seem to be a perfect Momma for her:)
Love to you both from Ari and the boys!
I love this I try to do this often, except I write a list of ten little blessings from my day especially I try to do this if I had a rough night at work or it seems life is not going as I planned, it defanitly puts life into perspective!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your decision about a Baby #2!
ReplyDeleteMama Hen, I love your nicknames! I can relate to your desire to have more babies...I have a stepson and a daughter and I want more, more, more!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Oprah full of wisdom? I hadn't heard of this blessings journal before, but I think it's time I start one.
Found you on blog flow and so glad I did :) Following!
It will happen for you! Until then, you really are blessed. We all are. :) Great post!
ReplyDeleteOK, this is kinda freaky now... you know, cousin, my sister keeps telling me how similar you and I are - she says that when she reads your blog, it reminds her of me. Well, would you believe it? I have a grateful journal!!!! I'm totally serious! Every night, before I go to bed, I pick it up and write down FIVE things that I am grateful for that day! I think that it is a wonderful habit that we should all have, because, as you say, it doesn't always take away the pain of whatever is hurting you, but it always, always, puts things back into perspetive. I love you, cousin!
