Magnificent Rainbows

"The greatest of rainy days brings the magnificence of a rainbow." ~Mama Hen
This past weekend was filled with birds, delicious food, many smiles and the magic of a double rainbow. On Saturday Little Chick and I wanted to head up North to our favorite little breakfast place in Old Saybrook. We then bought a loaf of bread and headed to the pier to feed our birdie buddies. Little Chick had so much fun! We saw the fisherman and the buckets full of blue crabs and some fluke they caught. Then we went back home and scooped up Grandma Hen and went to our local beach for some more seagull fun. The tide was low and we could walk out to the lighthouse. Little Chick thought this was very cool, because the lighthouse is actually rather far and as the tide started to come back in we made sure to put a swift step into getting back to the beach. By the time we did, the tide had already covered most of our path. It was a good lesson for Little Chick to always love the water, but to be very careful. It was dark by the time we got back to where the swings were and Little Chick had a blast swinging in the dark with Grandma Hen. On Sunday morning Little Chick woke up and said, "Mommy, lets go back to Old Saybrook!" I said that was a great idea. So we went back to our favorite restaurant and enjoyed the Sunday band. Little Chick was excited to help the band members play. We then went back to the pier and gave the seagulls some lunch. We headed home and picked up Grandma Hen again for some beach fun. On our way the rain began pouring. We kept going. By the time we got to the beach it rained even harder, but we could see the light ahead. So we ran up to the pavilion and waited for it to stop. Well, thank goodness we did, because out came the most magnificent double rainbow! We were in awe of its beauty. Little Chick ran on the beach and fed her birdie pals and then we went for a lovely walk. It was a fantastic weekend wrapped up in God's abundant blessings.
