A Good Old Laugh

"Laughter can relieve tension, soothe the pain of disappointment, and strengthen the spirit for the formidable tasks that always lie ahead."
~Dwight D. Eisenhower
Did you ever notice how wondrous a thing laughter can be? It can immediately break tension, reduce stress and simply brighten up one's day! Little Chick's laugh is contagious! I find that when I look at her or hear her laughing I instantly smile! I think all children have such an innocence in their happiness and laughter, the people around them can't help but smile or giggle! But how often do we find ourselves truly having a good old belly laugh each day? We get so caught up in schedules, daily tasks and simply getting things done, that we may miss plenty of opportunities to lighten up a bit and let out a good hearty laugh! I try to be silly as much as I can with Little Chick, but there are times when I know I might be missing the chance to giggle because I am trying to get something done. As I watch my daughter's birthday coming up and how fast the time has zipped on by, I realize that "getting something done" is nowhere near as important as the opportunity to have a good laugh!
Come and join me in Smile Sunday! Grab my Smile Sunday button in the left sidebar, write about something that makes you smile and let me know so I can add your link!

  6. Greetings, Mama Hen-when I was younger, a friend had an album that featured a band playing music. One member hit an obviously wrong note (maybe the tuba or something loud and brassy), and someone started to laugh. Then others began laughing until the entire band was in stitches. I would listen to that and literally be doubled over and racked with laughter. That little recording proves that laughter is contagious. I love to laugh-it feels so good and is indeed therapeutic as well. I try to never miss an opportunity to laugh until I cry. Your description of Little Chick's laugh makes me think of the movie, Monster's Inc.

  9. I love the colors on this site!

And I agree...that laughter is the best. When our little guy started laughing around 3 months, that was our sole purpose in life - to get more giggles out of him!

  10. My daughter's laugh is one of my favorite things ever!! She is very intense, so she doesn't laugh often, but when she does it is so great! It's like a belly laugh. She only does it about once a day, but she did it the other day when my husband had a really rough day at work & it just cheered up our whole house!

  18. So true, children's laughs are always so contagious and cute! I bet Little Chicks laugh must be so fun!

My husband makes me laugh everyday and because my kids have such a silly personality like their Daddy, they ALL make me laugh! Hearty laughs should be done more than 10 times a day. I love to Laugh!

    Have an awesome weekend!

  19. This post was so great! It's so true that in taking care of the day-to-day stuff, we can forget to enjoy laughing with our kids as they explore the world around them. As a side note, I love Little Chick's t-shirt. I've found that most of the shirts with writing say really lame things, like "Diva" or "Little Princess". I love that hers says "Bookworm" which is what I am trying to instill in Georgia. Have a great weekend!

  22. I laugh a lot, though I would like to laugh even more. The endorphin or seratonin rush-- whichever one it is (Haha!)-- feels GLORIOUS after a hearty laugh!

And oh yeah, I think there's nothing better than the sound of your own child laughing. The other night, my husband was watching a murder scene on TV and my eleven-month old burst into laughter.

Hmmmm... maybe I should be concerned. lol.
