Cherished Moments Monday

"Sometimes, no matter how much faith you have, we lose people. But you never forget them. And sometimes, its those memories that give us the faith to go on."

For Cherished Moments Monday this week I am putting an old picture of my Dad and I. Yesterday something very sad happened and I missed my Dad so much! He was always the one to kiss my tears away. Up until his passing we would call one another every day a few times just to say "I love you!" He always took my calls with a sense of urgency and importance, even if it was just to tell him something very silly. His secretary knew that when his family called he would take it, even if he was in a meeting. He would never rush us off the phone, and allowed us to complain about things and just ramble on like kids sometimes do. It wouldn't be until somewhere in that conversation I would ask, "Daddy are you busy?" He would reply, "I am here in a meeting." He cared so much and just knowing that made everything alright. He was the one in the family who carried the burdens, sadness, fears and worry so that we could have a happy and carefree childhood! I really needed him yesterday to kiss my tears away.

  4. You are lucky to have experienced such a treasured relationship with your dad. So many dads of our generation were simply the 'provider' and practically lost to us. I hope this memory of your dad was enough to cheer you up.

I'm sorry you were sad, I hope you have a better day today! I gave you a blog award, even though I know you're probably showered with awards already! I couldn't resist giving you another one :)

  11. Bless your heart. This post really affected me - what a sweet, dear man your father was. Here is what you MUST remember. Before, you had to call him, now know - he is with you always. I assure you he is watching out for you. I truly believe this. I am sorry you are having a bad day (I, too, was in the middle of my own personal hell.) Wish we were all closer to get together, have some coffee and vent until it is all gone!

  14. Wow, Mama Hen, I am simply amazed at the outpouring of love and support one simple bog entry has elicited. My dad traveled for work while I was growing up, but I'm trying to make up for lost time now that I'm grown up and he's retired. I hope today is a better day for you. -EW

  23. I am so happy that you have such loving wonderful memories of your father. I know you talk about him often and really miss him.

    What a beautiful picture!

It reminds of pictures I have with my grandfather, who will always be the love of my life and what every man should be.

Although, he passed away over 5 years ago, I will miss him everyday for the rest of my life.

I remember when I was pregnant with my son I had a dream that (was so real) I was standing outside his house (that I often spent time at as a little girl) and he opened the door gave me a long hug and said lovingly "Karey, it will all be okay."

When I woke up (hysterically crying) I called my mom and told her what had happened in the dream and she said
"Did you know today is the anniversary of when he died?"
Shocked- I said.. "No, I had no idea."

    weird...

But it was very significant (and very comforting) for me because I had just been diagnosed with a brain tumor and then a month later that I was pregnant.

But he was right, everything turned out alright and I'm so lucky that he is watching over us.

    (Sorry for all rambling lol)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
I just loved your pictures for the 4th of July!
You can tell she had the best time!
