"Some things are too special to sleep through."
~Mama Hen
Today Little Chick asked me when it was going to snow. It was cloudy and cool when we woke up and she said she would really love to go sledding! It reminded me of last year's first snow. We couldn't wait for it to snow! We have a hill in our backyard that we love to go sledding on. I remember waiting all day for the snow and it did not come yet. Little Chick and I were so excited! She went to sleep and I told her that she would wake up to snow and we could go sledding after breakfast. That night it started to snow at around 10:30 PM. I didn't want her to miss it so I woke Little Chick up and carried her down to watch the snow in our family room through the big picture window with the spotlight on. She was so excited! Then we put our snow boots on and winter jackets and headed outside for a few minutes of the first snow! It was so amazing! Little Chick giggled and squealed with delight! She of course caught some snowflakes on her tongue as it came down. What a cherished memory that was for us both.
Great memory! I love a picture that I have of my son back 6 years ago, we moved to a new state, and he saw his first snow at 4yrs old. He built a mini-snowman, it was only 2-3 inches deep, just enough!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw snow I was nearly 13 years old! That's what happens when you're raised in outback Australia!!
ReplyDeleteIt must have been December in the photos above, or do you put your tree up really, really early?
Love love love those pictures! I grew up enjoying snow but now KLV won't see the snow unless we seek it. Thanks for sharing those special memories. So glad she is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! What wonderful memories you guys have. Just think how fun the snow is going to be this year!
ReplyDeleteAwwwww I love this story. It's always so exciting for children when it snows outside. I love the pictures of her all bundled up and I'm dying over the little snow boots! The picture of her looking out the window in front of the Christmas tree just looks so cozy :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this story. This year will be the first year that Georgia can go outside and actually play in the snow, and this post gets me all excited for it! I love Little Chick's snow gear - the matching boots and jacket are too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love how fat your tree is - it's huge!!!! You are very lucky you have the sledding hill right in the backyard.
ReplyDeleteBTW, your quotes are great - I look forward to those every day.
Thanks for the Sweet Blog award, it's so adorable and I love it!!!! It's my first award so you've made me feel really special.

I was grieving the loss of summer, and a fellow blogger reminded me of the fun of winter coming around the corner too!
ReplyDeleteAre you both feeling better, btw?
Aww Lil chick sure looks happy. What a bit of snow will do to a child.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome memory! Some things are worth throwing the schedule aside and enjoying in the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet pictures!! My little boy also woke up talking about snow today. Must be something in the cool breeze blowing in that makes them think of winter. Jessica
ReplyDeleteWhat a great blog you have!! Thank you for the comment :). I look forward to reading more. Your daughter is adorable.

Oh how I love snow. As a Canadian, I'd better love it! There's nothing like fresh fallen snow to make you get the Christmas spirit. To see a field of snow without tracks makes you think of a new beginning!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I love snow, but i hate the cold... Grate memory.
ReplyDeleteMs Mar can't wait for the snow to start falling ither. Though she did say she wants to put some snow in her brothers face. NOT COOL
You certainly seize every opportunity to have fun with Little Chick! She's adorable and it looks like she's loving the snow!
ReplyDeletehow fun for little chick and for you!!
ReplyDeleteour first snow last winter was the middle of OCTOBER -- i didn't even have our winter gear ready at that point, but we bundled up in rain boots and layers and made footprints in the snow : )
You are such a fun mom! What a wonderful memory. I remember shovelling snow late at night with my mom. It was so quiet outside in the dark, and huge snowflakes were falling. I don't know why I remember that...but i do. Thank you so much for your sweet email. I just got it. :-) Have a wonderful week! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet memory that is! But please, give me another month without snow. Once it comes here it doesn't leave until some time in April.
ReplyDeleteDarling pics. :-)
I love Little Chick's smiles. My cherished memories of my daughter got wrapped under current homework and get to school on time pressures. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteWow those are beautiful. I love that you woke LC to go outside. She'll remember this sweet memory :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I absolutely love these photos with the snow falling - they are so beautiful and so cool! And I love how you woke up little chick to come and see the snow with you. You are such a good Mama ... I have so much to learn from you!
